why do tv manufacturers give their lcd televisions native resolutions like 1440x900 or 1366x768?
Those resolutions don't match up with 720p. Is displaying something in the non-native resolution not that big of a deal? I guess it's not if they make those tvs and people buy them.

- Some resolutions date back from the PC era (PC monitors). In general, they pick resolutions that optimize the manufacturing process (yield the largest number of panels from a certain size "glass" ).
