Is it true that LCD televisions break down quicker than a regular television?
I am about to buy a new television and I need YOUR help! Can anyone tell me what a good brand is? I have a 3 year old Phillips that crapped the bed. I thought Phillips was a good brand name?

- I think you have to buy a cell every so often for those TVs or maybe that's the plasma ones. My advice is to get a regular or LCD Magnavox. My my mom had her Magnavox for 22 years and it just stopped working this spring. Phillips is garbage everything Phillips we have bought broke soon after CD player, stereo, DVD player. Also stay away from the Polaroid, Apex, Memorex and Trutech brand.
- I would think that LCD televisions would last longer than CRT TVs because there are fewer moving parts inside (such as the electron gun in the standard TV) Personally, I like Sony and Samsung for LCD. Vizio doesn't seem too bad, if you're going for a budget brand.
- Plasma and LCDs have a work life expectancy. I bought a Plasma that has 22,000 hrs of good picture, that is about 5 years for me. most appliances these days I expect at least 5 years from them. What will generally happen after the 22,000 hours is anyones guess, from loss of color quality to nothing. I have an LCD also that's going on it's 6th year, and is also used as a computer monitor. It has had a work horse life and is still working fine. Thing I like about these screens, they don't weigh that much. One person can lift a 42 inch plasma and the 42 LCD's are suppose to be even lighter. I enjoy both. The image quality is far greater.
- I can't think of the answer to this question because I keep staring at your legs.
- WARNING: LCDs have plastic and very breakable screens. My SONY was broken by a 3 yr old hitting the outer screen. He didn't break the outer screen,no he broke the inner screen. What a piece of $2000 junk. Not covered by warranty nor home owners insurance. Just trash and only 6 mos. old. Sony is as cheap as the rest. Man those are nice legs.
