The M87 is the best of the two, M87 has many better advantages than the R87 like: -Full 1080p HD (R87 only 720p or 1080i max) -Super Clear Panel (only on the M87) Basically the R87 is the basic entry model for Samsung and the M87 is the premium model for 2007. Take a look in stores like (Currys -Comet) and compare the differences
