Why is my samsung lcd tv screen black when connected to my toshiba laptop using a vga cable?
i tried trouble shooting already. changing resolutions and doing what the computer tells me to do but absolutely nothing is going on screen. it works with the s cable but the picture is lousy. i thought using the vga cable would give a better picture just like it does on the laptops lcd. the laptop is 2 years old but the tv is brand new. could there be compatibility issues? please help!

- Usually on laptops there are 'function keys'. One of these combination function keys is used to choose the output display. Since the function keys are different on different laptops, I can't tell you where yours is. And by the way, you won't get the same picture quality on your TV as you would from a monitor. This is because your TV isn't capable of displaying the resolutions outputted by computers. This is why computer monitors are more expensive than a TV of the same size.
- Check that you have turned on VGA output on the laptop (this will require the laptop to be in a compatible graphics mode - the laptop screen may go blank). And check you have enabled VGA input on the monitor. This is different from the TV inputs, and on my TV/monitor takes some finding.
