LCD TV Rating

I have a Samsung LCD TV and want to connect a Dell M1210 Laptop?

Samsung Tech says I must have 1920x1080 resolution from my laptop. I am using VGA Cable and launching signal but because the max from video card is 1280x800 He and Dell are saying I cannot connect. They claim the TV has a filter that will not accept signals outside range. I also cannot change video cards. Anyone have suggestion?

1. I can see where the requirement to have 1920x1080 resolution might be an issue if you were using the HDMI (digital) input. But, since you are using the VGA input, that should not be an issue. I have a Samsung LCD TV and have connected a laptop with a VGA cable and it works fine. The TV automatically synchronizes to my 1024x768 resolution on the laptop.
