LCD tv settings?

I have just purchased a Mirai LCD tv, It has a 8ms refresh rate, 1000:1 contrast and a 550:1 brightness. How do i go about gettin the best picture, i dont have a HD box yet so that isnt an option. I just want to know what settings to use to get the best picture! Cheers

  1. As with things like taste, and smell, sight is something that is individual. The best thing you can do is manually change the settings so that the picture is kindest on your eyes. Some TV's have a preset standard setting for colour, brightness, contrast, saturation etc - and for most people, that would be enough. My suggestion is play around with it until you get it to a picture you are most happy with. Good luck
  2. u can't your hdtv will make normal tv look very bad but this is due to your tv. your tv being high def picks up the imperfections of normal tv so unless u have hd in the form of sky hd, blu ray, hd dvd, or ps3/ xbox 360 tehn u will have low quality picture. only help is to have your aerial changed into a digital aerial
  3. I agree, for best picture only you can decided and adjust. Let me explain a little about the attribute Refresh rate means the time for the dot/pixel in your LCD screen to change from white to black (some factory measure from Grey to Grey). Contrast ratio is the different between the black and white pixel the bigger the better. brightness usually measure with Cd/m3 which means candle light per m cubic.
