scart leads for lcd tv and picture quality?

Does a high quality expensive scart lead help with picture quality on an lcd tv. Remember i am in the UK and we don't have High Def much yet unless you pay over the odds for it. Also, is it normal for an lcd tv to turn images into 'blocks', expecailly fast moving pictures. Does this have something to do with the refresh rate?

  1. Generally speaking, you will see a better picture if you use higher quality cables (QED, for instance). Remember, cables cannot improve the performance of your TV, only allow it to work at its best. Blocking (or 'artifacts') on LCD TVs are usually caused by one of two things - 1) Poor reception. If artifacts occur during certain weather conditions, you may need to upgrade your aerial. 2) Poor quality television. Unfortunately, many cheaper LCD TVs (Goodmans, HiSense, Cyberhome, Kenmark, Proline, Grundig, DMTech, etc.) simply cannot produce good quality pictures. If you see artifacts when playing DVDs, it's your TV (or possibly DVD player...) that is at fault.
  2. good quality gold leads will give a slight improvement on picture. they give a better improvement on sound. it sounds more like an ariel problem. you can go on the http://www.freeview.co.uk/home web site and find out the signal strength in your area. you could also try an indoor digital ariel which work well with freeview. Argos give a 16 day moneyback guarantee so if it didn't help you haven't lost anything.
  3. A higher quality standard scart lead will be able to pass signals without the signal degradation of a basic "cheap" lead so you should expect to see a better picture with cleaner sound.A good lead cannot improve a poor signal from a cheap piece of equipment though.
