Whats a good website for discount televisions? I am looking for a 37" or larger LCD thats under 700 dollars. Name brand preferablly and good reviews. PLEASE HELP!
why do lcd screen replacements cost more than buying a new tv? If the lcd screen is a part of the tv why does it cost more than the actual tv? It just doesn't make sense to me. I'm trying to repair a tv with a cracked lcd screen. But for some unknown reason the lcd screen of a tv is more expensive than a tv? Do television companies get crazy discounts on lcd screens so were forced to buy their Easily Breakable televisions?
Who makes Vizio? Sony? LG? Sharp? Panasonic? This is not a question. I am actually answering my own question here because I attended a long electronics seminar where I was able to talk to a couple of Vizio reps, along with Panasonic, Sony, Sharp and several others. The question for ages has been: "Does Sony Make Vizio?" Answer: No! Who really makes Vizio? It is AmTran Technology of Taiwan. "Who makes their screens? Perhaps Sony or Sharp?" Answer: Vizio LCD screens are made by LG. Plasma screens are Panasonic seconds, which are most likely older technology and/or Panasonic rejects. The Panasonic rep said they are their screens, but they are totally different grade than the ones in Panasonic TV's. Unfortunately, LG was not there to confirm whether their screens are really being used in Vizio displays, but many experts I spoke to confirmed this is true. It even hints towards this if you search Vizio's website. Question: "Are Vizio TV's made in the USA?" Answer: NO! Not one screw is turned in the states during assembly. They are made in China/Taiwan. According to the Vizio rep I spoke to, they are made to Vizio's spec overseas. Vizio has absolutely no hand in the manufacturing of Vizio TV's. Vizio gives the requirements to AmTran and they make them for from whatever parts fit the bill. The Vizio reps justification for this was that many other companies don't make their own products, so why should Vizio? "AmTran is the best maker of HD televisions, which is why they were chosen by Vizio". The CEO of Vizio, William Wang, is the former owner of Princeton monitor company. Princeton went out of business a few years ago. This left Wang free to be the mastermind of Vizio televisions. Your "American Made" Vizio only employees about 100 employees in the states and has no say over the people or talent responsible for the Vizio phenomenon. Accoding to William Wang, Vizio aspires to be the next Sony by selling their discount televisions at Costco and Wal-Mart. Vizio's real website. http://www.amtran.com.tw/
New Televisions? Hello, Okay heres the deal. My family is building a new house and my Dad wants me to be in charge of getting the TV's sorted out. I really do not know the difference between all the new different types of TV's out there. I know I need to get 3 HD TV's (the rest will be regular). But I am at a loss to find out which type of HD to get. My Dad wants me to look from Panasonic because he knows a guy that works there and can get a discount. What is the difference between: 1.)Plasma HD TV? (I heard plasmas die out...is that true?) 2.)LCD Flat-Panel HDTVs 3.)LIFI™ Projection HDTVs (Are there more types?) 4.)Does anyone have any panasonic tv's and are they good? I need one of the tv's needs to be a good gaming one. Is there a certain type I should get? Also an unrelated question but if anyone owns a Xbox what do HDMI cables have to do with the system? What are HDMI cables...? Thanks!
Broken TV from walmart, walmart refuses to help what do i do? My fiance and I purchased a philips 47inch lcd television May 27th of 2010. We were moving into our new apartment together on July 1st, and walmart had an offer where if you signed up for their credit card financing you receive a discount but you have to purchase all items within 24 hours of opening the card. So we purchased the television so we could get the special discount and interest rate while the promotion was valid. Anyway our apartment ended up failing inspection so the landlord was unable to allow us to move in. The television stayed in the garage which is locked and secured until we moved into the apartment on October 15th. When verizion fios came to install the hd cable we took the tv out of the box and the television is cracked terribly! I have the receipt the box and proff from the landlord about why the television had to sit in the box because we were unable to move into the apartment, and the place we lived was to small it could not fit through the doors. Walmart says because its past 90 days the philips warranty has to cover the damages, and philips is saying because it was like this out of the box and because we have proof the tv was not touched for the few months that it is walmarts issue. That walart is suppose to open the box at the store to check for damages prior to sale and they did not do that. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this issue ? Where you purchase something and are unable to use it for a while and then it turns out its broken? I am very upset because I know 100% that no one damaged the television on our end. How can I get this television fixed even if I end up having to pay for this? Does anyone know because walmart and philips keep passing the blame on each other, and are not giving us any answers. Thank you very much for your time, and advice in advance.
How much discount should I ask for on a damaged television at Sears? I am looking at a damaged television at Sears. The damage is to the screen. It has a bad scratch (or poke) about 1/4" in diameter and all the pixels behind it are white. (Will it spread?) The TV is a Sylvania 37" LCD with built in DVD player. Labled: "Was $1079, Now $779" and listed as used (damaged box is not checked! Ha!). They are very motivated to get rid of clearance stuff, the salesman was quoting me 20% additional diacount off other clearance items. I looked on line, Amazon says "List $979, Price $888" I thought I would offer them $300 firm and mention the damage. What else are they gonna do with it? It is damaged pretty significantly. Waddya think? Thanks.

Good plasma television in the sales? What would be a good plasma television to go for in the sales and try get at a discount i.e.. not too much money? Is 1080p essential or would 720 be good enough? I've heard that 720 may be better for sports and high motion or action than 1080p? Not sure the truth of that. If I am connecting Blu Ray and Sky HD would I need full HD television? I am guessing that 720p sets would play SD television better than 1080p? I've never really been impressed with LCD screens they look cheap, the colours look over saturated and fake, and I always see compression artifacts all over the place from the playback I've seen of SD Sky on HD LCD screens. I think the plasma screens look more natural and probably better for sports and action films that I like to watch a lot of? If you have any suggestions of which Plasma screens to take a look at I'd appreciate it. I don't want to have anything too gigantic. I think I'd be happy with a 37" screen size. Thanks for any advice.
Is a $250 4 yr service plan worth it on the Samsung 46" Touch of Color 650 TV? I recently purchased the above mentioned television. I paid about $1600 after tax (employee discount at retail store) but it normally retails for $2200. I have this month to decide whether or not I want to spend the extra 250 to get the 4 year service plan. I had a 40" Samsung LCD TV before this one for over a year and never experienced a problem. I know the plan would provide piece of mind, but to your knowledge, are there any known issues with the TV I purchased or would I be better off saving the $250? I've heard that the failure rate of new LCD tvs is below 10% (I have no clue if that's true) and that Samsung is one of the top brands. Thanks!
Homework help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!#@!%$#^%#@%^? ok, i am finding taxes on things and discounts. i need help with two important questions. PLEASE!!!!! 1)An electronics company is having a sale. All televisions are 25% off the regular price. If a 46 inch LCD TV regularly sells for $1600, find the sale price. 2) What is the total cost of a book if the regular price is $18.99 and the sales tax is 6.5% Please show me the work to each problem, and answer, and if you can, that would be GREAT!!!! Thank you sooooo much. show me what u add, sub. etc. if you don't know both, one is good too. and if you can, show me setting up proportions, because thats how we do it at school. THANK YOU!!!!!!! DESPERATE!!!!
Which of these TVs would be best for me to get? I am planning on buying my first television. Except I am a little torn and I was hoping you would tell me which of these three would be the best to buy. So I am considering a Panasonic 42" LCD for 709.99, Toshiba 40" LCD for 679.99 and an LG 42" LCD for 599.99 (all prices in Canadian and all 1080p). I am only considering these three because I am getting it from the retail store I work at and they don't have the biggest selection, but I can save over 200 from the sale price and my discounts combined if I buy it here. Anyway, anyone's input would be great on which would be the best one.
