Which Sony 32" HD LCD should I buy? What is the differecne between the Sony Bavia models: Sony BRAVIA™ KDL-V32XBR2 32 in. HDTV LCD Television Sony KDL-32S3000 32 in. LCD Television They seem almost exactly the same? Is there a big difference?
Can I replace my cracked Sony HDTV LCD screen myself? My Sony Bravia KDL46XBR2 LCD HDTV (46" LCD HDTV) screen cracked after it took a hit from a falling lamp. I paid $2499 @ Fry's Electronics. A replacement screen from Sony cost's $1369. I contacted several Sony Authorized/Certified Repair shops and they told me it wasn't worth fixing, but they mark up the price of the part and then won't disclose their labor rates or fees for replacements, just that they will charge me $100 to bring it in to "check it out" and then that they can't tell me how much they charge for labor. I'm busy, I don't have time to load a 46" 100 lb television into my car and drive somewhere so some idiot can charge me $100 to tell me that my screen is cracked, I would be the idiot in that scenario! I I'm a bright young guy, can I order the replacement screen and replace it myself? Is there somewhere that will replace it and not tell me I'm out of luck? I know it's costly, but if the cost of the screen is half the cost of the tv and the labor isn't $1000/hr?
What is your opinion on this Sony HDTV? KDL-40W3000 40" Sony LCD HDTV (1080p) reg. $1999.99 I want to hear from people who own this tv, or know someone who does. I would be using it for movies and games; Not much television. I'm concerned about picture qualtiy and reliability. I bought a Toshiba two years ago, and it had a pretty good picture. However, it's already stopped working...
Is there any risk of mercury exposure with LCD televisions or monitors? I have a 32" Sharp LCD HDTV and a 19" Sony LCD/TFT monitor but I recently found out that these displays contain fluorscent bulbs with small amounts of mercury. Is there any risk at all for any of the mercury to reach the users or viewers assuming that the user does not open up the screen? I presume that as these screens are sealed/enclosed in a very "air-tight" manner, sothat even if the bulbs were to break or become damaged, the Hg should not beable to escape the enclosed structure of the device. Is this a correct assumption? Looking at the manuals, there is no mention of any health concern due to theHg in the device - the only notice is to take proper precautions when disposing the device. But again, if the monitor's enclosure is not opened or tampered with by the user, is there any risk of any Hg dissipating out of it? I believe not but I would like a qualified opinion. Many thanks,
Why do all HDTV LCD's seem to look so grainy/blurry? Can someone please explain to me why LCD's are supposed to have such better picture quality than regular televisions? Cause I just got a 32 inch Sylvania LCD HDTV for Christmas, and a LOT of the stuff I've tried to watch on it really looks like crap. In fact, it seems to me like for watching most things, my regular old crap tv produced a much smoother picture! For instance, I have an Xbox 360, and the other day I tried to view a picture slideshow on it. When my xbox used to be plugged into my old standard def tube tv, which is the same size (minus the extra widescreen space on the LCD), the pictures looked great, really clear, good colors. Now, on the LCD, they all come up looking kinda pixelated, ya know? Like the colors aren't really all that smooth, they don't seem to blend into eachother seamlessly like on the old tv, and the image is kinda grainy looking. It looks almost like a painting or a drawing of a picture, as opposed to a real life picture! Is High Definition the only format that is actually watchable on an HDTV LCD? I mean, I've tried watching standard definition widescreen DVDs too, and they all look really grainy, and if you get up close to the screen you can really see how the little patches of pixellated color don't quite blend really well. And an old Sopranos Season 1 DVD looked nearly unwatchable, it was so pixellated and blurry. Does my HDTV just kinda suck, or is this a compromise with ALL LCD televisions? Cause of the pixels? I've also been to tons of stores and seen lots of these tv's, and they all seem to have the same image problems--even the HD channels in the stores come out looking grainy still. Even all the supposedly high end Sony's and Auos things had the same problem as my tv. Is this all HD is? Cause it doesn't look crystal clear to me, anywhere that I've seen it. I also pressed one of the store guys to come up with an answer. They had a basketball game playing in HD, and it was so pixely up close you could almost see little whiteish pixel silhouettes around the players. I pointed out all of the little pixel blurs on all the HDTV's, and after much arguing, he said it was the best I was going to get... He did show me a Blu Ray version of some animated film on HDTV, and that looked awesome. As do all of my Xbox games, when I play them on my HDTV. But is that really all it's good for? Also, are rear projection HDTV's any smoother looking than LCD HDTV's? I really can't stand how phony this thing is making everything I try to watch look. Any superior knowledge or opinions would be appreciated, as I'm thinking of returning the tv soon, or trading it in for a rear projection HDTV. Thanks guys.

Better LCD Brand, Sony or Samsung? Well, since my room is fairly small, I'm just going to go ahead and get a 32" 720p LCD HDTV. I have my eyes on three televisions, two Samsungs and one Sony. But I just wanted to know which, in your opinion, is the better brand. Also, which of these, is the one to go with. Thanks Here are the televisions. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8742818&st=Samsung+32%22+LCD&lp=2&type=product&cp=1&id=1202648987833 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8742596&st=Samsung+32%22+LCD&lp=3&type=product&cp=1&id=1202648740213 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8808061&st=Sony+32%22+LCD&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1206142174666 I heard that Samsung has better picture quality, though Sony has better sound quality. Also, Sony, of the three, has the lowest contrast ratio. Sony's is 2000:1, and one Samsung's is 8000:1 and the other is 10000:1. Is that really important? My Sony BRAVIA picture goes darker :/ What's the problem? Well, I think this is probably a setting problem but I'm not sure. I got a Sony BRAVIA 46" LCD HDTV television (1080p BRAVIA S-Series LCD HDTV KDL-46S5100) and the picture goes darker. I gotta say that I only use my TV to play video games and watch Blu-ray movies on my PS3. I have no cable. Ok, so I start playing/watching (PS3) and the picture quality is awesome and totally beautiful, I have the HDMI cable; but when for example there is like a dark scene, the picture (light) goes darker automatically and is really, really hard to see. What could be the problem? PS: The HDMI cable I have is this one: Sony High Speed HHDMICable - 4ft (DLCHD12T) Thank you!
I have a Sony Bravia 46in Model L LCD HDTV and just got a Sony Blu-Ray player? Right now I have my BluRay hooked up to my television via Component Cables, but everyone is telling me that my audio and video will be much better if I switch to an HDMI cable. #1: Is it true that I will notice a difference with the audio/video quality when I switch to HDMI cable? #2: I been shopping HDMI cables in the local retail stores and comparing the prices online (different brands), how can these cables be so much cheaper online? Online, I'm finding HDMI cables for under $10 (and more feet), where at Target, a Sony High Speed HDMI Audio/Video Cable (Version 1.3, 4 ft) is $29.99 Are the HDMI cables that are sold online good quality? Or does it go back to the old saying, you get what you pay for and its buyer beware?
Sony LCD TV or Panasonic Viera? Any help appreciated? Hello all. Could someone please point me in the right direction.. im interested in purchasing a 32" lcd hdtv and i've narrowed it down to 2 of them. They are both 399.99 and are 32" my only problem is choosing which company is better because the tv's are nearly alike. The first is a panasonic vierra model number TC-L32C12 which has everything i want and a 10,000:1 ratio. The second tv is a Sony bravia 32" that has everything i like also with a ratio of 8,000:1 the model for that one is KDL32L504 BOTH tvs are 720p OKAY... here is where the question is lol. My first thoughts were Sony = BEST so i was naturally like okay i want the sony one. but after researching i've found that this particular model was on sale at all the stores for black friday... could it be possible that tv was made slightly cheaper or only for a limited time to sell for a cheaper price. Sony also sells another 32" tv with a ratio 13,000:1 with the EXACT same specs as the previous model listed. I was 100 decided on this sony until i found out its been discontinued. This is my first lcd tv purchase and im wanting a quality television that will last me a long time thats why im going with a big name but right now im realllllly leaning towards that panasonic viera due to all the wonderful reviews it's gotten. All that being said... SONY, or PANASONIC folks?? ive always trusted sony and i do trust panasonic also but theres something about that sony model that makes me question it. ANY INPUT APPRECIATED!! Thank you so much

Buying a new LCD HDTV - any tips advice? My family tends to keep our televisions until the break down, lets just say the last tv we had had wooden panels. Anyways, we're interested in purchasing an LCD HDTV -- I think we're leaning towards the Sony Bravia brand My question is will I be required to buy other accessories to use the tv. For example, will I have to buy an HDMI cable or does that come included. Also, will my old dvd and speaker system work on the new television?

Do I need HD DVD player to get a good pic. with LCD HDTV? I just bought the Sony Bravia KDL52XBR4 and I'm wondering if I need to get an HD DVD player to get the most from my DVDs or if my standard player in combination with the HDTV will enhance the DVD quality? Also, does anyone know what SDTV looks like on this television? Can you play old standard DVDs in an HD/bluray player? I'm electronically inept, but I'm definitely anxious to find out. After spending 2700 on the TV, I'm in no hurry to spend another 300 on the player... it's just not that serious. In time, it will happen, but for now, what can I do to get the most of my new TV? Thanks so much for your help!!
Connecting Logitech Z-2300 to LCD HDTV? Hey all, i just purchased a Sony Bravia fullHD tv (KDL32V5500) and was wondering the possibility of connecting a set of 2.1 computer speakers to it (logitech Z-2300 2.1) to provide better sound (before i buy them). I have a PS3 hooked up to the tv via HDMI cable and a seperate DVD player hooked up via the yellow-red-white RCA plug. Now i have read the speakers come with the red-white RCA adapter and the TV has the red-white audio out. my question is whether that setup will work with digital television, (because isnt RCA for analogue??) and Will it play out the sound from the PS3 which is hooked with HDMI cable?? Help - Thankyou
I have a Sony Bravia HD 32'' LCD Flat Screen TV. I have a question regarding the analog channels.? I don't know if it is a common problem for HDTV's to have problems with showing analog channels the correct way, but we recently bought an HD television, and every time we tune in on the analog channels everything is fine except the fact that there is no sound. We have to either turn off the TV, then restart for the sound to come through, or flip through other channels, then come back to the channel that we wanted the sound for. I read in another place that other people also have problems with HD televisions either not producing the picture or the sound for analog channels. Is this really a legitimate problem concerning an HD television, or is it a common thing for all HDTV's with analog channels? Any answers would be greatly appreciated! Nothing too technical sounding, please. Thanks. 10 points to best answer. ;)
Is there a real difference between HDMI and component cables? I have a Sony Grand Wega LCD rear projector HDTV. I have digital cable installed and am running component cables from the HD-DVR to my television. Would I notice a huge difference if I switched from the component cables to a HDMI cable? I know that YPbPr is for analog signals and YCbCr is for digital signals, but I honestly don't know which cables I have.
How do you connect a laptop to a television?(ten points)? Okay so I have an HP laptop. I also have a 32 inch Sony HDTV flatscreen. LCD. Choosing the best LCD Television - One of life's greatest challenges!? I am looking to buy a new flatscreen tv and am realising how hard this is proving to be. -I know that i want an LCD, suits me best. -I know that i want a 40inch based on the size of my living room. Now for the big questions: 1. HDTV: 1080i, 1080p, 760i, 760p... Is there a big difference? I guess that in the near future it will become more important but i hear that if i get an 1080p, quality may be worse than on a 760. I don't have HDTV yet. i might get it in a year or so. should i still go for the best? It is after all a big investment. 2. brightness, contrast ratio: terms that aparently don't matter? 3. Display resolution: 10ft away, will there be any difference between 1920 x 1080 and 1366x768?? 4. aspect ratio: Widesceen? Please let me know what ur opinion is. So far i am thinking about the Sony KDL-40W2000: http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=KDL-40W2000&site=odw_en_GB&pageType=Overview&category=TVP+LCD+TV A bit pricey though Thanks a lot Postman
is this fact about televisions true? i want to buy an lcd tv and i have a budget. i am begining to think more and more that the quality wont make that much of a difference and that i should buy a reliable brand with a good warranty. if i had the chance to buy a less known brand for tv's(dell) but it came with a 4 year warranty and was fairly inexpensive should i do it. i also found a refurbished sharp 32 inch lcd hdtv with a 4 year in home warranty...does this seems ok. it also has a 1200:1 contrast ratio. sony's seem out of my budget, maybe toshiba. does this sound like a good deal. 750$ for a 32 inch dell lcd hdtv with a 4 year warrant and a 1200:1 contrast ratio?? are there any other reccomendations of products for under 1000$ do you think it would be ok to buy a tv from amazon.com??? would it be good to buy a refurbished tv with a great warranty???
End of October - Great time to buy a HDTV? The link below says October will have LCD televisions selling for 5% less than last year due to over-supply with some good deals on Black Friday. Anybody besides me going to upgrade? What I will look for: * Name brand (Sony, Samsung, Sharp) * Lots of HDMI inputs * Optical output (to feed a home theater system) * TV MUST let you jump straight to an input (important feature for smart remotes) * Bonus is that each input has separate Brightness, Color, Contrast Anything else I should look at? http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/434/flat-screen-tv-prices-to-plunge-for-holiday-season/
Buying a 32" HDTV: 720p or 1080p for computer hookup? I'm in the market for a 32" LCD HDTV and am on a fairly tight budget (trying not to spend over ~$600 for it). I'm planning to mostly use it for watching standard definition television and hooking it up to my laptop to watch videos online or downloaded movies...my laptop also plays Blu-Ray, so I might watch them occasionally, but probably not often enough to be a factor. Anyways, my question is whether I should buy a higher quality 720p HDTV (I'm thinking the Sony or Samsung), or go for a 1080p Vizio. I want videos played from my computer to look really good on the TV, but I don't know if 1080p will make a huge difference on a 32". Any insight?
Sony Bravia KDL46V4000 - good price? Sony Bravia KDL46V4000 46-inch LCD 1080p Digital Television With: Free 5 years guarantee & Free delivery Is £999.99 a good price for this HDTV?
HDTV Novice? I am looking to purchase a LCD HDTV set, please excuse the novice questions - confused about info from varying sources. The main thing is I am on a tight budget - college student budget! So I was wondering how wise is it to purchase a refurbished television set? Looking for a 27" or 32" model - would one be a better choice for me? I plan on using the set to not only use a television set but as a computer monitor and gaming monitor. I have read that there is not much difference between 3000:1 to 1000:1 contrast ratio, so should I be fine with a 1000:1 contrast ratio with a 8ms response time? Will I see "ghosting" with the 8ms time while playing video games? Finally are any of these brands worthwhile(Westinghouse, Vizio, ViewSonic?) Figured since I'm budget conscious going to stores to see tvs wouldn't help since they all have name brand sony, toshiba etc. I'm not a videophile but am used to CRT..have yet to see HD on a set. So what you guys are suggesting is to stay away from brands like Westinghouse and Vizio? I just simply cannot afford a Toshiba or Sony at 800+ for a 32" television. I'm not necessarily looking a permanent television but one for the upcoming 2-3 year range. I have seen refurbished Westinghouses for 400-500 range for a 32" 1000:1 - 1200:1 contrast, 8ms-6ms is this not a good deal? I know I may be unrealistic with my price range of 300-400 with lower being better :)! Is there any specific television models and/or sites? Thanks for quick responses. Haha a quick note about the drunk college student comment - known all about it even lived in a frat house. Would never do it again - but tons of lasting memories and lack of at the same time. However I am a settled down SR - so I probably will keep my tv on a stand. The comment about all brands have the same 3 manufactuers - how can I find this info? Also if this is true there most be a lowest costing non-name brand that is the best bargain since it will have the same hardware as other name brand systems with a different casing? Just reiterating I am bargain shopper.
Is this the best way to hook up my Home Theater and PS3 for best picture and sound? I have a KDL-40V3000 1080p HDTV, a Sony DAV-HDX 501 Home Theater Surround system, and a Sony Playstion 3. I was wondering If I could just use the PS3's HDMI 1 for sound and video and use the Optical Out from the Tv to the Receiver? Would I be losing sound quality? I also want to get true surround sound. How has your experience been with lg brand hd televisions? I would appreciate if owners of one or someone with general hdtv knowledge answer. I have been impressed with two different 32" lcd Samsungs and a 40" Sony. What about LG tho? I can afford something between $400-500 (32"-37") and I can get a 1080p LG no problem off amazon for like $430 but most of the comparable Samsungs are a bit more with 1080p. If LG really aint so shabby I might just get an LG. I do not want a Vizio b/c I just do not trust them. Panasonic? What say you?
Which is the better of the 2 t.v's listed? Panasonic - VIERA / 42" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / Plasma HDTV $699.99 Sony - BRAVIA 40" Class / 1080p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV $679.99 both sound reasonable, the two inch difference doesn't bother me at all, which is the higher quality television? Do you have any suggestions for that price range if these are not the "highest quality"?

Does my HD ready LCD tv become full HD TV by using this kind of setup? According to my knowledge HD ready means that the television is capable of displaying HD content, but a separate HD tuner/receiver is required to convert on-air and cable/satellite signals to higher resolutions and Full HD means that it can show high definition pictures without a separate HD tuner/receiver because it contains a built-in HDTV tuner NOW, Suppose i buy an HD ready LCD tv wHich has an HDMI port,And i already have an Sony Home theater which upscales normal videos(played through DVD player) to full HD if connected through HDMI,then does my home theater become an external HD tuner for my HD ready TV?

Sony Bravia 32" LCD or Panasonic Viera 32" LCD? Please help? Thank you so much
what should i look for in a tv? Im gonna get my husband a new flat screen for his birthday next week but there are so many different option to choose from and i was wondering what I need to look for i know i want LCD not Plasma and i want a 52 inch and i know 1080 is good but that's all i know i have no idea what Resolution is good what HDMI is and how many i need or any of the tech stuff but i have looked at http://www.conns.com/tv-and-video/televisions/sony-kdl-52z5100-52-bravia-z-series-hdtv.html and http://www.conns.com/tv-and-video/televisions/samsung-ln52b550-52-1080p-lcd-hdtv.html please let me know what TV you prefer and why
Which hdtv should i get? http://www.lg.com/id/tv-audio-video/television/LG-lcd-tv-32LH35.jsp http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-32ex400 which has the better features price is no problem
What is the better deal for the long run? OLED or LCD t.v.? I'm looking at new OLED televisions and I really like the color, how they are so slim and I really like the design of Sony's OLED tv except I need hdtv wires for my ps3 but it seems like good value. I hear they run much much better but burn twice as fast (blue goes first). Is there any truth to that (more then yes or no)? Which one would you prefer for the long run and why? This is my first question so I guess the best answer gets those little points once I figure out how to do them.
Good TVs or Projectors? Plasma, LCD, projector... although I'm leaning more to the projector side. I'm looking at the In76 by infocus and i don't know if i should get it. I don't know if i should get this dlp projector or a wall mounted lcd or plasma. For a lcd tv, i'm currently looking at the "46 BRAVIA XBR® LCD Flat Panel HDTV" from Sony that will come out later this august (2006). However, it does seem a little expensive for only a 46'. So what would be a better bargain for great picture quality and longetivity. Let's say money isn't a problem at this stage. So in76 vs best plasma vs best LCD... Whatever I'm going to buy is going to be my gaming television. (not that i play my 360 for hours and hours nonstop so i probably won't get burn-ins from plasma anytime soon after my purchase...)

HDMI - no signal from PC? I connected my PC to my LCD HDTV through an DVI to HDMI port. I'm trying to boot up XP but once the boot sequence reaches the "welcome" screen, the television loses it's signal. I'm starting to think that the HDMI isn't a problem since I can boot up Windows 7 just fine. My dell's XP DVI input works fine. Just that the XP using the HDMI doesn't work. Once again: Windows XP loses signla entering the Welcome screen Windows 7 boots up just fine. Both on the same computer Computer/monitor specifications: Nvidia 8800 GTS Using a DVI cable connected to a HDMI port to connect to GFXcard. Sony 40" KDL-40v5100 (already updated) also, MAX refresh rate for my main monitor is a lot smaller than my HDTV, resolution wise is also alot smaller. The Sony 40" should have a resolution of 1920x1080. That's the resolution you should set your Windows to run at. yup, that is what my windows 7 resolution was. But it automatically set it to that. I can't set my XP to a resolution of 1920*1080 if i can't even see the monitor. As for Dual Monitor. hmmmmmmmmm I dont see the point of setting up dual monitor since only my TV is plugged in, but seeing how I also saw this problem with my other two monitors when setting up Dual Screen, I'll give it a shot. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR ANSWERS =D
Which cord do I need to connect computer to television? I have a Toshiba LCD and it has a function where I click input and it goes to PC mode. I was wondering how I could use that and which cord I would need. I think it's the CR one. If it's not possible to connect it to that, I have a desktop, but it's around 5-6years old. I was wondering what I would need to buy to connect my computer to my TV. Thanks

Looking to buy LCD Television? SONY 46" High Definition HDTV Grand Wega LCD Television is the television im concerned about. The problem is I have no idea of of how much it would be worth. This person is selling me it to go for 400$ straight up used for 19 months with the bill of purchased date. Im guessing the Television is pretty old and wondering of how much its worth would cost at this time and it looks like it has rear projection does it mean the light bulb will need to change? How does this TV compare to the ones coming out these days? Does anyone have a clue of this being a good Price or not? Any good qualities on Sony televisions? KDF46E2000 is the model
Is the Sony® 32" BRAVIA® XBR Series LCD TV with High Speed HDMI™ Cable - 6' 6 a good television? I have yet to get an HDTV and dont have a lot of experience purchasing them.I have a TV in mind, but don't know if its a good buy or how the viewing experience is. I'm going to be using it to play 360, watch sports, and the occasional movie/ show. Also what does High Speed HDMI mean? Another question is, it is on a stand? Will I be able to remove the stand and hang the TV to the wall so it doesn't take up any room? Any thoughts or experience with this TV would be appreciated.
is this fact about televisions true? i want to buy an lcd tv and i have a budget. i am begining to think more and more that the quality wont make that much of a difference and that i should buy a reliable brand with a good warranty. if i had the chance to buy a less known brand for tv's(dell) but it came with a 4 year warranty and was fairly inexpensive should i do it. sony's seem out of my budget, maybe sharp or toshiba. does this sound like a good deal. 750$ for a 32 inch dell lcd hdtv with a 4 year warrant and a 1200:1 contrast ratio?? are there any other reccomendations of products for under 1000$
