LCD TV Rating Knowledge Base
What is the resolution rating of my LCD flatscreen TV? I bought a Samsung DNIe flatscreen HDTV, LCD, about a year ago....at the time, I was not familiar with the technology, just impressed with the picture quality. I didn't ask technical questions about how many lines of resolution it produces and all. Does anyone know the answer? It comes in handy for watching hi-res DVDs...the picture quality is astounding.
Buying a LCD TV. What Hz rating should I get? 60, 120, or 240? Each step up seems to add a considerable amount to the price. I'm not so in to TV that I have to have the very best. But I do want a very good TV. The lighting in the room is somewhat low, if that is a consideration. Also, what's a good brand as far as quality and reliability? I'm thinking Samsung or Sony.
Is it possible to use 220V @50Hz, LCD TV in the Philippines? PI/USA is rated @60hz.. is it still safe to use? Philippines and USA is rated @60hz.. is it still safe to use? I have a HDTV LCD Samsung from England, I want to move to the Philippines and want to know if it's ok to use there.. yes it has the same 220v rating BUT its rated @50Hz, while the Philippines is rated @60Hz... Converters do not change the frequencies.... and since the tv is already at 220V, I won't be using one... it's the frequency that is bugging me right now... I have read microwaves, clocks or anything with motors are not compatible at different frequencies but I'd like to know if I would have any problems running a 46" LCD TV rated @50Hz or would it get slowly damaged/life shortened or run strangely in any way... Would really appreciate any insight... thanks Thanks everyone for the info. Now that the power is out of the way.... Just an update. According to my LCD TV it accepts signals PAL/SECAM/NTSC4.43 under color system via the store channels....I'm still not sure if this is multi-system or it just means via input like dvd players...I'm still guessing the tuner itself is only pal... Does that mean however it can accept cable-tv? I won't be using the regular air waves antenna thing. Since its an LCD, the plug is not important as it uses the standard PC plug where you can exchange it for different countries, I already have a US plug for it.
What is the difference between full HD LCD TV and HD ready LCD TV? What is the difference between them and does full HD really provide good picture quality Which brand is good between Sony,Samsung,LG and Videocon. Can I use a 12V/2A or 2.5A power supply for an LCD TV with 12V/3A rating? I just got an LCD TV (Magnavox 15MF050V/17) but it doesn't have a power cable. Looking around, I've found a 12V/2.5 or 2 A (can't remember for sure) universal power adapter. Will this work for me? The label on the back of the TV says 12 volts and a max of 3A. Also if you happen to know the model and where to get the actual power supply or a 12V/3A power supply for a reasonably cheap price and reliable seller, I would welcome that info as well.
What LCD TV Manufacturer makes the highest rated 32 inch screen? I am planning to mount this TV on the bedroom wall. We will be viewing it approximately 8 - 10 feet from the screen. LCD TV What does refresh rate mean? would like to buy a new LCD flat screen, but looking at two similar models with big difference in price. The only thing that I can see is that one has a 60Hz refresh rate, and the other has 120Hz. What the heck is refresh rate, and would I notice a difference?

Samsung LN32B460 32" LCD TV in standard definition and HD question? Im planning on getting a Samsung LN32B460 32" LCD TV based on its rating as the best 32" tv. I want to know how well it looks in standard definition, and it says it has "built-in digital (ATSC) and analog (NTSC) tuners for over-the-air TV broadcasts (antenna required) * built-in QAM cable TV tuner receives unscrambled programs without a set-top box (cable service required) * 1366 x 768 pixels *" Now, a friend told me that i would be able to pick up Hd channels if i had some kind of receiver like this? scart leads for lcd tv and picture quality? Does a high quality expensive scart lead help with picture quality on an lcd tv. Remember i am in the UK and we don't have High Def much yet unless you pay over the odds for it. Also, is it normal for an lcd tv to turn images into 'blocks', expecailly fast moving pictures. Does this have something to do with the refresh rate?

LCD 32 inch HD TV for gaming? Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone could anyone recommend a good 32 inch HD LCD TV with a frame rate under 8ms. I don’t really want to spend over $800 unless I really have to. I remember I did see a Toshiba TV for seven-hundred something dollars, so I know they are out there, but I don’t know if Toshiba makes good TVs or not. Any brand will do, just try to keep it to a bigger and well known brand. Also take into consideration that because I will be using this TV for gaming, it should have some ports, such as HDMI etc. Also take into consideration that this T.V. should have a descent picture quality, but it doesn’t have to be amazing like those more expensive TVs because it’s going to go in my bedroom, not my living room. Thanks everyone and I will give someone 10 points for the best answer.

Do I need to set LCD TV Resolution to the maximum (Even though my video file resolution is low)? I have LNS4695D Samsung LCD. It stated in the manual that the recommend resolution is 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. Is it necessary to set it at this maximum resolution? Is it true that the Refresh rate value (Hz) determine how smooth the video playback? Most of my video file have resolution of 960 x 600 or lower. Is it true that as long the LCD TV resolution is greater than video file resolution, the picture quality that display on the screen will be all the same? Thanks alll

What is the major drawback of using an LCD TV as your computer's "monitor"? I'm about to buy a computer and have been researching the best 24" to 30" monitors around. From my price range it's between Apple and Dell's Ultrasharp series. From what ive seen, TV's of comparable size to the monitors have higher contrast ratio's (15000:1 compared to 5000:1), lower refresh rates (4ms compared to 8ms) and are seemingly alot cheaper. With the right connection (VGA ?) you could just hook up your tv to the computer. Two notes: *i'm a newb so the details could be wrong. *it's a mac i need to buy a screen for (i.e. compatibility)
